Curriculum Vitae

Fun Facts

  • I've been a 'trotter', having lived in Beijing, Shanghai, Toronto, Edinburgh, Weihai, Lianyungang, and Zhengzhou (ranked by length). Each city has left its unique imprint on me.

  • Having trouble pronouncing my name? You're not alone! The sound for '雪' is considered the most difficult to pronounce in Chinese, boasting the trifecta of a challenging initial, final, and tone. I like people calling my Chinese name, and I don't mind if people don't get the pronunciation exactly right. However, you're welcome to call me Sylvia!

  • People around me often mistakenly think my undergraduate degree in IoT Engineering is about logistics and package delivery. This common misconception is one of my initial motivations to explore the intersection of IoT and HCI.

  • I voluntarily teach high school students Python and English grammar to support the newcomer community during my spare time.

  • I play the Konghou, a traditional Chinese instrument. Sometimes, I even consider incorporating it into an HCI experiment just for fun!

  • Still learning to ride a horse, but I'm getting there!
